What I Would Change About My Fitness Journey

I would go back to the Spring in 2016.

My wife Laura I and were having a baby due in August and we were getting everything ready, as most first time parents do. But there was something that really got out of hand.

๐ˆ ๐ ๐š๐ข๐ง๐ž๐ ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŽ ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐๐ฌ.

I donโ€™t regret many things because they have their place in lifeโ€™s journey, but pinning it down to that spring, I believe the course of the last three years would have been different.

As most first time parents do, we ate based on cravings. We ate whatever we were feeling that day until it turned into a bit of routine.

Friday nights were burritos and ice cream nights. Sometimes Saturdays were too. This continued well into the pregnancy until August.

An indescribable occasion that lead to some of the worst habits I ever had:

โ›”Not exercising enough
โ›”Takeout and pizza places were our best friends

I think thatโ€™s part of the problem.

Having the stones to still take care of your own health and body even when caring for a newborn.

The 30 pounds I put on during and after the pregnancy peaked in February of 2017 when I decided it was time to compete in my first powerlifting meet.

It was a grueling experience and set me back a year in potential progress because of it. I started way behind.

Do I regret anything? Hell no. That experience made me who I am today.

My problem was I wasn’t executing my own plan, which led me to gain weight.

I also had no accountability or anyone to keep me in line and not stray too far from my ideal body.

I wish I had a coach helping me through that process to avoid the unnecessary fat gain.
